Increased data quantities require dedicated storage space.
green border   Five reasons to consider near-CDP storage. As your business grows, so does the amount of data you need to store. Because data storage might not be your primary job responsibility, you need products that provide fast, dependable access yet require minimal attention. Here are some affordable, hassle-free data storage options.

Add storage space to an existing server
You can affordably increase the storage capacity of your existing server with the addition of a Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) drive. A SATA drive is essentially a supplemental hard drive available for internal or external installation. Most SATA drives can be partitioned to perform both backup and storage duties.

Installation of external SATA drives is relatively simple. SATA drives installed inside a tower server are known as direct attached storage (DAS). DAS installation is typically more involved because it requires accessing the chassis of your tower server.

Invest in a network-attached storage (NAS) server
NAS servers are optimized for data storage with slimmed-down operating and file systems and beefed-up data protection and specific input/output (I/O) capabilities. Another benefit of NAS is its ability to connect to a network hub or switch without interruption to your business. Most come with performance-monitoring software that lets you easily allocate storage to each user.

Remember that anytime you purchase a new storage server, you must protect your data with regular backups and ensure that you have compatible backup software.

Eliminate the hassle of backups with near continuous data protection (CDP)
Near-CDP storage can be configured to automatically conduct backups at specific intervals. The chief benefits of near CDP are near elimination of data loss when a server fails and quick restoration of files during recovery. Hourly backups may be necessary for your business, or you may decide that a backup every three hours is sufficient. Consider how much data you create in a day to gauge how often you need your near-CDP server to perform a backup.
